30 April to 3 May 2009: Second session of the First Scriptwriting Workshop (in the frame of the European Film Festival in Beirut.
Following the first session held in December in the frame of the European Film Festival during which the 5 scripts were appraised by Jacques Akchoti (France) and Ghassan Salhab (Liban), the participants have taken into consideration the advice given by both experts in order to re-write their scripts in preparation for the second session of the workshop.
The second session took place from 30 April to 3 May and resulted in scripts that are on a good path of development.
Meanwhile the Fondation deemed it useful and necessary to give these scriptwriters/directors the chance to attend Cannes Festival in order to make useful contacts for the advancement of their projects.
The Fondation have thus invited the 5 scriptwriters (Natacha Antonellou Achcar, Nada Chalhoub, Ali Zaraket, Ahmad Ghossein and Carlos Chahine) taking in charge their travel fees and accommodation in Cannes.
Presentation files of their projects were sent to professionals that we had contacted and the meetings were confirmed.
* One of the scriptwriters, Carlos Chahine, could not attend the second session of the workshop as well as the meetings in Cannes because he was presenting his short film “North road” in several festivals taking place at the same time, namely Tribecca Festival (New York) where he won the first prize.
